About Us
For over 75 years, IRD® LLC, or Industrial Research & Development, has specialized in highly technical machinery that assists in the repair of industrial equipment. Its two brands, IRD® Balancing and Lexseco™, are the industry standard for soft-bearing balancing technology and electric motor core loss testing.
IRD® Balancing equipment allows customers to balance rotors of a wide range of sizes via soft-bearing technology which can be more versatile and safer than hard-bearing technology. Our knowledge and technology span back to 1952 when IRD Mechanalysis produced the first portable electronic instrument for measuring and analyzing rotating machinery vibration, and allowed for dynamic balancing of rotors in-place. This introduction to the market has allowed over 65 years of IRD® Balancing technology to advance with the purpose of providing top-of-the-line balancing machinery across the globe.
The Lexseco™ founding engineers created the first core loss tester (CLT) which revolutionized the motor repair industry in 1978. Shortly after the creation, core loss testing became an industry standard quality test for electric motor repair. Over time, IRD's line of core loss testers have advanced to become a fully automated system which can test flux, amperage, and wattage.
