The insulator is a high-temperature phenolic block with blind, tapped holes in each side. The insulator is used with the Model 544 vibration sensor to isolate the sensor case (which is internally connected to the signal coil) from the machine on which the sensor is mounted.
Isolation is necessary if the machine has insulated bearings and to prevent circulating current (ground loops) in the sensor cable. A common application is to prevent damage to the sensor during welding.
